Dear Friends,
For over half a century The Opportunity Center has provided a loving, supportive and life-enhancing program to adults with a wide range of disabilities. Despite the overwhelming challenges over the past two years, the Opportunity Center has not stopped with this mission but everything has radically changed. The pandemic has impacted and continues to change the daily life of the entire population but has created additional burdens, sadness and isolation experienced by people with disabilities. This past year, the Opportunity Center reopened their doors and has taken a number drastic actions in the interest of the health and safety of our clients.
Every year our Parents Group sponsors the “Dove of Love” fundraiser to enrich the lives of our clients. Although everything has drastically changed, the Opportunity Center continues to provide safe excursions, outdoor field trips, special instructors (now via zoom) and a host of other life-enriching programs that promote our clients’ happiness through engagement, socialization, recreation and new experiences.
Tuition and donations keep us going. Our dedicated staff works as much out of love and devotion to our clients as for the modest compensation we can afford to pay them. This is our only planned fundraiser for 2022 so we need your support more than ever.

We are thrilled to share exciting news from this past weekend. The Chrysanthemums that our clients raised from seedlings won best in show at New Jersey State Chrysanthemum Society show! Many thanks going out to our awesome volunteer Miss Jean Cooper, direct support professional Linda Smythe, and all of the Opportunity Center clients for their hard work to make this possible. Our 2018 Tricky Tray will be held on Tuesday, October 2nd! Once again, it will be held at the Terrace at Biagio’s in Paramus. 293, Paramus Rd, Paramus, NJ. Tickets are on sale now so don’t hesitate to call Donna Spallina at 201-310-3939 right away! Hope to see you all there!
We are so excited to announce that the Fair Lawn Sunrise Rotary is holding a Yoga in the Street Fundraiser! All proceeds will benefit the Opportunity Center. It will be this Sunday, May 20th from 9am – noon. See the pictures below for more information or Click Here to register online!

The Opportunity Center Garden is back and looking great! We have already begun harvesting our different varieties of lettuce, kale, radishes, beets, and herbs. Our tomato plants are getting bigger along with our eggplants, peppers, sweet potatoes and pumpkins. Continue reading Our Garden is Blooming!
This past May, the senior class, along with the guidance and support from Teachers/Staff Advisors at Fair Lawn High School hosted the 48th annual “Marathon.” This fun-filled festival weekend is held to raise money and awareness of local charities. During “Marathon 2015,” members of the FLHS class of 1988 organized a special alumni softball game with the specific goal of raising funds for The Opportunity Center.
